Getting curious about depression

In this 13 minute video, I discuss the ways in which depression is often misunderstood in modern life, and how this can lead to us missing its potential benefits and sometimes prolonging our suffering.

Addiction as a relational issue

Once upon a time, we understood addiction to be an issue of physiology.  Today, we know that addiction is driven perhaps more than anything else by relational issues - our ability to relate to our selves and to others.  This article (below) explores this dynamic further.

Does depression have more to do with our social than our neural connections?

This is an article by Johann Hari that appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald's Good Weekend some years ago.  It is an excellent overview of Hari's work, and an introduction to his theory that social connection is more relevant than pharmacology when it comes to addressing depression.  See below.
